Veneer Blister Repair and Edge Splicing

This service is for mid-century teak sideboards, Victorian chests and tables where veneer has bubbled, lifted or chipped away at the corners. We inject fresh glue beneath bubbles, clamp flat under heated cauls, and splice grain-matched wood patches into chipped corners. The surface becomes flat and solid again.

Questions about this service

Can you flatten a large bubble without cutting the wood?

If the bubble has no split, we make a hairline slit along an existing dark grain pore, inject adhesive, and roll it down flat.

Can you patch missing veneer on curved rounded corners?

Yes. We steam small veneer strips to match the corner curve before clamping with shaped counter-blocks.

Will the colour of the new patch stand out?

We use artist pigments and shellac washcoats to match the tone of the surrounding wood before final sealing.

Our Workmanship Guarantee

Every joint we glue and finish we apply is covered for twelve months against structural failure and lifting under normal indoor use. If a reglued joint loosens or a sealed surface peels, we return and put it right at no added charge. Pricing & payment

Why Choose Our Workshop

Old stock veneer

We keep seasoned vintage veneers to match the colour and pore size of older timber.

Stops edges catching

Flattened veneer edges will no longer catch on sleeves or cleaning cloths and tear further.

Invisible grain seams

We cut repair patches along natural wood pores so splice lines disappear from view.

What Customers Report

★★★★★
Our Victorian walnut table had two split leaves and loose legs. Arthur picked it up, re-glued the runners, and oiled the top. The table sits level on our floorboards and holds six people easily.

The beech dining chairs had wobbled for three years. They dismantled every joint, cleaned the old glue out, and clamped them tight. Solid as iron now. Payment was simple via bank transfer after inspection.
Claire T., Camden, London, GB

Removed dark water rings from a Danish teak credenza without taking away the original color. One drawer needed realigning afterwards, which they sorted on the spot.
