Questions about this service

Can you fix drawers where the bottom board has dropped out of its groove?

Yes. We take the drawer back off, ease the cedar or plywood base back into the slips, secure it and re-nail the back.

Do you install modern metal ball-bearing runners?

No. We repair traditional timber-on-timber runners to preserve the original structure and storage depth of the furniture.

Why does my drawer stick only during summer humid days?

High humidity swells softwood boxes. We plane half a millimetre off the high rubbing spots so they clear during summer.

Why Choose Our Workshop

Hard beech for long wear

We use hard European beech that resists friction wear better than soft pine.

Stops sawdust on clothing

Fixing the grinding timber stops wood dust falling into the clothes below.

Handles stay intact

Drawers move easily with one hand, protecting brass handles from pulling off.

What Customers Report

★★★★★
Our Victorian walnut table had two split leaves and loose legs. Arthur picked it up, re-glued the runners, and oiled the top. The table sits level on our floorboards and holds six people easily.

The beech dining chairs had wobbled for three years. They dismantled every joint, cleaned the old glue out, and clamped them tight. Solid as iron now. Payment was simple via bank transfer after inspection.
Claire T., Camden, London, GB
★★★★☆
Removed dark water rings from a Danish teak credenza without taking away the original color. One drawer needed realigning afterwards, which they sorted on the spot.
